History:

The RAR (Rocking Armchair Rod Base) Chair was developed in the early 1950s for the competition, "Low Cost Furniture Design" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The furniture is part of Eames' "Fiberglass Group". The seat is connected to the steel frame through so-called "shock mounts" (integrated buffer), which are mounted on the stained wooden runners.

The RAR rocking chair boasts organically shaped seat shell and the Eiffel Tower frame. This "plastic chair" probably was a gift to Herman Miller employees with whom Charles Eames worked a long time together.
