Charles Eames began with the development of so-called Aluminium Group in 1955.
By default, it was necessary to develop a chair that is suitable for both indoor and for outdoor use.
After three years of work the first prototypes of the "Leisure Group" were published in 1958. Only in 1969, the variants emerged with additional padding pockets (soft pad).
The chairs in the Aluminium Group are probably the most popular office chairs in the world. In many conference rooms, they can not do without, such as in the conference room of the Federal Chancellery of Germany.
