DSW Chair

Product description

A design classic made in 1950 by Charles Eames.
The original was made of fiberglass, but we are able to deliver the chair in a rugged ABS shell.
The two chairs are visually indistinguishable. ABS is more scratch resistant then fiberglass, because it does not shine, but is dull. The metal struts of the plastic chair are exclusively available in black.

Material / Features:
  • ABS shell in white, red-brown, pistazia, orange, light-blue or fuscia
  • Beautiful wooden legs
  • Metal struts in black

Measurements:

width 47 cm, depth 53 cm, height 83 cm, seat height 44 cm

History:

DSW Chair was developed in the early 1950s for the competition, "Low Cost Furniture Design" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The furniture is part off Eames' "Fiberglass Group". The shell is connected to the wooden legs with so-called "shock mounts" (integrated buffer). The models in the line were the first industrially manufactured plastic chairs in history. The organically shaped seat shell offers exceptional comfort as they adhere perfectly to the body of the user.
